Lingerie Shower

Hi Stampers!
I had so much fun tonight, with my friend Gayla, casing a card done by Cristy Butzen.  There is a Bridal Shower coming up so Gayla needed a "gift card holder." We started with Stampin' Up!'s open end envelope and decorated the outside of it using the new Hearts Collection framelit dies (125599 - $26.95) from the Occasions Mini catalog. The "to have and to hold" was stamped from a retired wedding set by the same name. We just giggled and giggled at the play on words. Definitely a "hand stamped for you" kind of card! I just love the possibilities!!

St. Patrick's Day Wedding Card

Hi Stampers!
We are invited to the wedding of a dear friend's daughter on St. Patrick's Day. Of course her colors are green and white. Here is the card I made for the occasion. It was inspired by the single layer card done by Carolin DeLaVega for this month's swap.
I used the Fine Flourish (small square background stamp) to stamp with Versamark and then embossed with our Wild Wasabi embossing powder onto Shimmery White card stock. The sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes and was stamped with W. Wasabi classic ink. How's that for a non-traditional wedding card?!?

Final Single Layer Cards

Hi Stampers!
Here are the final single layer cards. The first one, a sympathy card, was done by Paula Nersesian. The Medallion background stamp was stamped with Versamark onto Crumb Cake card stock. Then the soft flower and sentiment from Love and Sympathy stamp set was stamped with Whisper White craft ink. I love this card! It is a very suiting sympathy card. Hard to capture in a photo.

Next is a gorgeously simple card by Kim Moore. This card is bright and cheery yet only uses a single layer! Kim stamped the flowers from Awash with Flowers onto Shimmery White card stock. This card stock adds so much to a single layer card! The sentiment, stamped in Cherry Cobbler, is from the Bring on the Cake stamp set. A fabulous quick card to have on hand!!

And, finally, last but certainly not least, is Kristin Grahman's card. Kristin made a stencil using the Bird Builder punch! She then sponged the bird perched atop the branch and added the sentiment from the Curly Cute stamp set. An ingenious card that, once the stencil is made, is quick to reproduce.

So, there you have it...our single layer challenge cards. I hope this inspires YOU to see what you can do on a single layer of card stock. Until later...

Another Single Layer Card

Hi Stampers!
Here is a jewel, single layer card designed by Linda Pugh. She used several techniques to achieve this beautiful card. (remember, you can click on the photo to view it larger)  She started by cutting her card stock in half lengthwise (4-1/4 x 11) Scored at 4-1/4" and then used the new framelit in a unique way. She put the end of the card stock in the Big Shot that she wanted to be the flap, laid the framelit close to the end of the cs and then, in order not to cut the entire framelit, only put the top cutting plate on part way...lining it up with where she wanted the score line to be to enable the flap to close the card. Wow...I hope that makes sense! If not, give me a shout and I will try to explain it better.

Next she clear embossed the flowers from Elements of Style onto the card and finally, used the felt technique to stamp the colorful bird on the inside of the card. To do the felt technique, you need a piece of felt fabric. First thing to do is ink up your stamp with markers in the desired manner. Then, stamp the image onto the white felt and BEFORE picking up the stamp, draw a line around the block so you know exactly where you put it to begin with. Then, using re-inkers, add drops of ink to the felt image and make your own little stamp pad just for this stamp. It is a good idea to put this felt into a plastic container...like our wood stamp containers, to prevent a total mess!

Hope you enjoy the card today.

More Single Layer Cards

Hi Stampers!
Today, I want to start by showing a standard A2 card designed by Loretta Howard. She used the Precious Butterflies stamp set and did some reverse masking and sponging to create the oval. She also sponged along the bottom of the INSIDE of the card so, when she she punched the border, it showed through to the front. I am guessing the colors used are Sahara Sand, Always Artichoke and Melon Mambo stamped onto Shimmery White card stock so it is shimmery. Beautifully simple card!

This Mixed Bunch bouquet of flowers card, designed by Liz Keehn, is done on Very Vanilla  card stock and is stamped in Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango and then, the final flower was embossed with Melon Mambo embossing powder to give dimension. The dazzlin' diamonds centers add glitz to this simple card.

And, finally, Carolin DeLaVega designed the following wedding card. It is a stretch to the single layer challenge but, technically, she used only one layer. It is perhaps hard to see in the photograph but, she used the Fine Flourish, single square background stamp and embossed it all over the card front. The ultra fine embossing has a very elegant, detailed look to it and adds so much to the card! She used the Movers and Shaper die to cut the hearts into the front of the card and popped up the punched out hearts on the inside of the card to show through. Lovely card that any bride would love to receive.

That is all for today! Take the challenge to do a single layer card and send me your design! I will make you "famous" on my blog! :-)

FUN at our Group Gathering!

Hi Stampers!
WOW! We had a great Group Gathering of the South Texas Big Shots last night! The demonstrations were awesome. We saw a fancy fold card, a project using fabric and a demonstration on how to organize your stamp sets. Besides all this, several of us participated in the SINGLE LAYER swap challenge. I LOVE single layer cards because they are VERY challenging and are SO beautiful in the end. I will be posting all the single layer cards over the next several days. Check back to see them all. And, don't forget to add your comments!
I will show my swap card first. It was made using the masking technique (to the hilt), a little sponging and a little spritzing, all on Shimmery White card stock. Of course the stamp sets used were Creative Elements and Party This Way.

The next card was designed by Brenda Heinold. She used River Rock card stock, stamped with Versamark and embossed along the bottom with the heart adorning accent embossing folder. The center accent was achieved by first stamping the image with Versamark and Night of Navy ink, applying Heat and Stick powder, heating to activate and then covering with Dazzling Diamond glitter. The stamp set used is Fresh Vintage from Sale-a-bration. It is SO pretty in real life!!

The next 4-1/4" x 3-1/2" card was done by Angela Navarro. She used the single stamp "Elizabeth" to achieve this single layer wonder. The techniques used on this card are heat embossing, sponging, tearing, (I think spritzing with alcohol/glitter) and using Cherry Cobbler and Soft Suede ink. Lovely little note card.

That is all for today. I hope you will challenge yourself to use a few different techniques to design a single layer card. No ribbon, no layers. If you do, please send them to me and I will post them to my blog!
Happy Stampin'!
